Another study on a kind of bias: students more likely to succeed if teachers have positive perceptions of parents | Pedro

Last week I took part in some offline and online discussions about teacher bias towards different students. This new study adds an important element to these discussions as they found found that teacher ratings of parental involvement early in a child’s academic career can accurately predict the child’s academic and social success. One could argue that this more correlational in nature, but – to me – more important: the scientists suggest based on a randomized controlled trial that teacher training can help.
